Helen Glencross

I am an amateur photographer from Guernsey. Although I have been taking photographs for over 25 years, I have been building my portfolio since 2023 and taking part in exhibitions both on and off island.

My photography explores light, movement, and the experience of looking. I enjoy playing with distortion and layering, whether through glass, reflections in water or selective depth of field, creating images that blur the boundary between observation and abstraction. I like to create atmosphere and texture, encouraging viewers to pause, look more closely and discover more within in my images.

I have explored the theme of Radical Beauty through the creation of patterns using photographs of flowers from my archive. By transforming these images into repeated motifs, I have created decorative designs that echo the beautiful woodcut designs of William Morris, whose use of nature and pattern have always inspired me.
