Sophie Le Lievre BA (Hons) is a sculptor, mould maker and casting specialist whose practice
combines highly skilled technical craft with a deep sensitivity to the natural world. After
graduating from WCA, Sophie spent more than a decade working on multiple large-scale film
productions. Her most recent solo exhibition, PORTAL at the Gatehouse Gallery, brought
together intricate, finely detailed works that subsequently travelled to exhibitions in Scotland
and London.
For the William Morris Collective, Sophie has created a pattern featuring the Yellow Horned
Poppy (Glaucium flavum), which grows along the island’s coastal banks. This work marks
the beginning of a developing series exploring rare and native species, with Sophie seeking
to capture the fragility, lightness and quiet delicacy of their natural forms.
